Indian Arrival Day is a holiday observed in a number of countries where Indian immigrants arrived in the 19th and early 20th centuries, mostly as indentured labourers. The day is dedicated to the contribution of the Indian diaspora to the development of their societies, as well as the preservation of their cultural heritage.

History and Significance
After the abolition of slavery in the British Empire in 1834, there was a need for labour on plantations. To achieve this, British colonialists began transporting Indian indentured labourers to various parts of the world. This process, known as the "indentura system", led to the mass migration of Indians to the Caribbean, Africa, Fiji and other regions.
